This one is a modern classic. I read bits and pieces of it every year, but have only read it cover to cover, I think twice. Still, it was a great learning lab for me. Surely everyone has read it by now, right? Anne Rice’s best work, about a family of witches and the mystical, sensual being that haunts them through generations. Words like “lush” to describe writing always make me roll my eyes. But in this case, definitely warranted. I highly, HIGHLY recommend ‘The Witching Hour’ by Anne Rice. Oh, and you’ll need some time on your hands. It’s about 1,000 pages long.
I realized as I was posting this that the other books I’ve posted have all become films or series. Not this one, to my knowledge. And it may be just as well since I’m not sure I can see anyone doing it justice.
